Beginner Piano Chord Path – Demo
Step 3 of 4
G7 (Lift and Expectation)
Welcome to Step 3.
You’re now meeting a chord that adds a sense of lift and expectation to the music.
This is the point where the song feels ready to move — before settling again.
Take your time here. There’s no rush, and no need to join everything together yet.

Play the Chord
This is G7.
Play the chord slowly and let your hand relax into the shape.
You may notice that it feels and sounds a little more active than the previous chords — that’s exactly what it’s meant to do.
Use the audio to hear the chord clearly, then play it yourself a few times at an easy pace.
There’s still no need to move between chords.
Just become familiar with the sound and feel of this new colour.
Listen in Context
Now listen to a short excerpt from Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star — just the opening part of the melody.
Notice how the music begins to feel as though it wants to continue and resolve.
That sense of expectation comes from the chord you’re learning here.
Guidance
G7 often creates a feeling of anticipation.
It doesn’t want to stay where it is for long.
Instead, it gently encourages the music to move forward and find its way back home.
By now, you may be starting to hear how different chords change the direction of the music, even when the melody stays simple.
What Comes Next
In the final step, everything will return to C, completing the journey you’ve been hearing throughout this Path.
When you’re ready, move on — or feel free to revisit earlier steps and listen again.
